Osaka remains the perfect embodiment of one the main city that has kept its old architecture and mixed it up with the architecture from nowadays.
Did you know that Osaka wasn't always named Osaka but Naniwa, why is that?
Well , Naniwa is standing for 'The Naniwa Nagara-Toyosaki Palace that was built by the Emperor Kotoku in 645 , Naniwa is still used nowadays in certain districts of Osaka as a remembrance.
The city was then as the capital of Japan under the name of Naniwa but was remaned Osaka after the Osaka Castle construction begins in 1563, later on in 1614 the Siege of Osaka began. The Osaka castle which is represented on the right, is considered as the Oldest imperial palace in Japan.
According to the world's population review Osaka has a population of 19,165,340 million spread across the capital of 221 square kilometres.
The city of Osaka is located in a region that is referred as the 'cultural heart' of the country : The Kansai region. It is located on the island of Honshu and is considered the main port in Japan.
The Japanese government is headed by the Prime Minister, ( as of December 2012) Shinzo Abe, who is appointed by the Emperor of Japan. The Liberai Democratic Party hold the most seats in the House of Representatives. They are a conservative political party and considered centre right and right wing.
Osaka charges a similar democratic format as most countries and vote every four years for a governor and mayor in an election. Legislations, law, budgets and so on are managed by the prefectural assembly which are voted for by the people.
The current mayor of Osaka is Ischiro Matsui as well as the leader of the Osaka Restoration association who, like the liberal Democratic Party, are considered centred right wing. They hold the majority of seats within the Osaka Prefectural Assembly seats.
